When a dangerous wizard takes control of the Hamlet of Auchenshuggle, a Protectorate of the Free City of Nodderton, the urgent call for a valiant hero goes decidedly … unanswered. Instead, Gammond Brandyford, a carefree halfling rogue of the Aevalorn Parishes, accidentally finds himself in the middle of somebody else’s problem.

Gammond may be convinced to help the subjugated villagers. But then again, he just might make a lucrative deal with the wizard. Either way, the good folk of Auchenshuggle got the hero that was available and not necessarily the hero they deserved.
