Russell Mickler works as a technology consultant out of Vancouver, WA.

Mickler holds a Master’s Degree in Applied Information Systems from the University of Oregon and has worked as an adjunct professor for graduate and undergraduate IT programs since the ‘90s.

He’s authored or co-authored several tech-related books, but his passion lies in writing short-form fantasy and science fiction. His nano, micro, flash, and short stories have been featured online, in magazines, and in print anthologies.

His work has finaled, semi-finaled, placed, shortlisted, or received an honorable mention in contests hosted by NYC Midnight, Globe Soup, Writer’s Playground, Writing Battle, Reedsy, and Furious Fiction since 2022.

Mickler moonlights as a judge for short stories and flash fiction on NYC Midnight.

His debut novel, The Ballad of Skyer Dannon, was self-published in 2022.
Black Anvil Books is Mickler’s imprint for fantasy and serialized fiction.

Outside of work and writing, he loves reading comics, role-playing, Shaolin Kung Fu, and spending downtime with friends and family.
