NYC Midnight 2023 Microfiction Challenge
NYC Midnight hosts eight writing challenges throughout the year, and this year’s microfiction challenge is underway!
I always love sitting for a NYCM competition. They attract thousands of amateurs from around the world and are (I find) extremely competitive contests. In this one, there are 4,481 writers participating in 105 groups, with approximately 43 writers per group.
Yes. This odd, leaning, crappy thing is their official logo. Why? Uncertain.
Anyway, per contest T&Cs, I can’t say much about my work until results are announced, but I can say that my prompts this time were Sci-Fi, Weighing Something (an action), and Minimum (a word I must use).
I was pleased with my prompts and composed a decent story within 24 hours. It’s up to the judges now! I’ll let you know more when I know more.
So it’s February 7, 2024 and the results are in! I’m out!
I ran a re-write of my The Last Harvest story and it didn’t make the cut to move into the second round. Oh well! Better luck next time, perhaps.
