Globe Soup 2024 Historical Fiction

Globe Soup’s 2024 Historical Fiction Challenge kicked off for me with a ticket for the Black Death!

Woot! I love the 14th century!

So gritty, tragic, and plaguey.

If you’re as into dark fiction as I am, laced with the oppressive guilt only Catholicism can offer, then you’ll love my story, Trust in His Hand.

It’s Holy Week, 1349, and pilgrims from London converge on St. Albans Cathedral to attend High Mass on Maundy Thursday, the Mass of the Last Supper. My protagonist, Brother Aelred, confronts the horrors of the plague and the challenges of faith amid tragic suffering. It's a delicious fall read that’s sure to end poorly.

It’ll be submitted to the contest about a week ahead of the deadline to make room in my calendar for more contests in the coming weeks. More in a few months! Stay tuned!
